our country's motors will drive the demand for high-efficiency motors to nearly 100 billion yuan

Since the beginning of this year, the United States has continued to stage an electric vehicle boom: in the context of Tesla's continuous new stock price highs, Prager Energy also followed, rising more than 330% during the year, followed by hydrogen fuel cell companies Ballard Power Systems and Fuel Cell Energy

The company has successively hit new highs in the stock price stage. Today, this wave is spreading to electric vehicle motor companies. On March 11, Beijing time, UQM, a U.S. company that manufactures electric vehicle engines, rose 41.04%, and after-hours trading showed that the stock continued to rise 16.72%.

Analysts said that in the past year, the mapping of the U.S. stock speculation boom on A-shares has become more and more obvious, and it is not ruled out that A-shares related to the automotive motor business may also take the opportunity to assault. In addition, from a fundamental point of view, the "National Motor Energy Efficiency Improvement Plan"

It is also pointed out that by 2015, the upgrading of our country's motor products will drive the demand for high-efficiency motors and related equipment to nearly 100 billion yuan.

The Tesla wave has swept into the automotive motor sector

At the beginning of the new year, in addition to Internet giants such as old stars Apple and Google, electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is undoubtedly the biggest hot spot in the global market. In the context of Tesla's rising stock price, the entire electric vehicle industry chain has set off a hype boom.

Since the beginning of this year, the stock price of PLAGE Energy (PLUG) has soared, climbing to $7.09 intraday on March 4, a new high since November 2005, and the cumulative increase during the year has also reached 331.61%. The strong rise of Prag Energy has led to a sharp rise in hydrogen fuel cell companies. Shares of Ballard Power Systems (BLDP), Fuel Cell Energy (FCEL) and Hydrogenics (HYGS) all hit new 52-week highs.

Now this wave has spread to electric vehicle motor companies. On March 11, Beijing time, U.S. stock UQM Technology Co., Ltd. rose 41.04%, and in after-hours trading on the same day, it rose 16.72% again. It is reported that the company's business includes: providing propulsion systems and generators; Relevant auxiliary components for electric, hybrid-electric, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell electric vehicles. After decades of research and development in energy-efficient electric motors, generators and power electronic controllers, UQM Technologies has recently entered full production in these product areas.

According to foreign media reports, Eric Ridenour, who has just served as president and CEO of UQM, said: "Full production is a great achievement for UQM. Companies that use our high-quality, high-efficiency motors and controllers are also ready for mass production. According to reports, UQM technology supplies high-efficiency electric motors, engines and power electronic controllers to industries such as automotive, aviation and military, and focuses on the development of alternative energy technology products, including power propulsion systems required for electric vehicles, hybrids and fuel cell vehicles.

As early as 2010, UQM, a world-renowned developer of alternative energy technologies, announced that it would jointly develop a powertrain system for pure electric vehicles and hybrid passenger cars with BorgWarner, integrating UQM's Power Phase electric propulsion system into BorgWarner's 31-03e Gear Drive electronic drive transaxle to provide CODA with a pure electric front-wheel drive sedan. UQM's Power Phase electric propulsion system has a peak power of 100 kW and a continuous output of 45 kW; Its peak torque is as high as 300 Nm, and the continuous output torque is 160 Nm; The system weighs 46 kg and has a maximum diameter of only 280 mm. The electric motor can be used in a wide range of passenger cars, including mini cars, and features optimized four-quadrant performance, dynamic torque, speed and voltage control, with an effective transfer rate of more than 90% over the power curve range.

On the other hand, in China, there are no enterprises in our country that really produce electric vehicle engines, and only a few companies are involved in the electric locomotive business, such as Wanxiang Group.

Domestic high-efficiency motors contain a market of 100 billion

In recent years, although our country has basically kept pace with the international level in the research and development of high-efficiency motors, technological progress is very optimistic; But unfortunately, the IE3 motors produced in our country are too little used in China, and most of them are used for export. It is not difficult to see that our country still has huge challenges in high-efficiency motors.

As we all know, the electricity consumption of motors in the industrial field accounts for about 75% of the total industrial electricity consumption, so motor energy conservation has become the key to industrial energy saving. With the dual pressure of energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection, energy-saving equipment represented by high-efficiency motors has attracted much attention in the market.

High-efficiency motor refers to a motor with high efficiency of a general-purpose standard motor. High-efficiency motors adopt new motor designs, new processes and new materials to improve output efficiency by reducing the loss of electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical energy. The energy savings of using high-efficiency motors are very obvious compared to standard motors, and the efficiency can usually be increased by an average of 4%.

As early as 2008, our country included the energy conservation of the motor system as one of the top ten national energy-saving projects, and in 2009, the application of high-efficiency and ultra-high-efficiency motors was included in the project to benefit the people. At the beginning of last year, the "National Motor Energy Efficiency Improvement Plan" was introduced, which mentioned that in 2015, our country will realize the upgrading of motor products, 50% of low-voltage three-phase cage asynchronous motor products, 40% of high-voltage motor products to meet the high-efficiency motor energy efficiency standards; A total of 170 million kilowatts of high-efficiency motors have been promoted, 160 million kilowatts of inefficient motors in use have been eliminated, 100 million kilowatts of energy-saving technical transformation of motor systems have been implemented, and 20 million kilowatts of efficient remanufacturing of eliminated motors have been implemented. In other words, it is expected to save 80 billion kWh of electricity in 2015, which is equivalent to saving 26 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 68 million tons. The Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that it will officially implement the motor energy efficiency improvement plan nationwide, which plans to take 3 years to improve the energy efficiency of the national motor and promote the transformation and upgrading of the motor industry, of which more than 30,000 industrial enterprises with an annual power consumption of more than 10 million kWh will be the key implementation object of the plan. According to this estimate, the implementation of this plan will drive the demand for high-efficiency motors and related equipment to nearly 100 billion yuan. In the future, with the advancement of energy efficiency improvement plans, the market demand for high-efficiency motors will be gradually released, showing an increasing situation year by year.

China's motor exports will gradually increase

At present, there are fewer and fewer enterprises engaged in traditional motor production in developed countries such as Europe and the United States, and in this context, Chinese motor companies may become their importers. The proportion of high-efficiency motors in the existing stock motors in China is less than 5%, and the high-efficiency motors produced are mainly sold abroad. According to industry insiders, the proportion of high-efficiency motors in China is currently only 23%-25%.

Although our country has gradually become a major motor manufacturing country and has mastered the production technology of high-efficiency and ultra-high-efficiency energy-saving motors, on the whole, the competitiveness of the motor manufacturing industry is still weak, with large motor usage and low energy efficiency. Gao Dongsheng, deputy director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, once said that at present, there is still a big gap between our country's overall energy efficiency level and foreign countries, especially the energy efficiency use of motors, transformers and other power-consuming equipment, with large usage and wide application area, the annual electricity consumption through motors accounts for 64% of the electricity consumption of the whole society, and the energy consumption of motors in the industrial field accounts for more than 70% of the total electricity consumption in the industrial field, and the energy efficiency consumption of the motor system is more different from that of foreign countries, about 15%-20%.

According to GB186132012 standards, most of the motors currently produced and in use in our country are level 3 energy efficiency motors that are lower than the standard, with an average efficiency of 87%, while the efficiency of high-efficiency motors that have been implemented in developed countries has reached more than 91%. In addition, statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show that high-efficiency motors account for only about 5% of the motors in use in China. Some experts said that in the future, our country should carry out in-depth research on energy-saving technologies of motors and their systems, such as the research and development of high-efficiency energy-saving motors, high-efficiency transmission systems, reasonable matching of motor systems, and energy-saving system integration schemes of motor systems. On the other hand, it is necessary to formulate energy-saving standards for motor systems, such as system energy-saving transformation guidelines, energy-saving testing and evaluation standards for motor systems in special fields, etc. In addition, it is also necessary to establish an energy-saving certification body for motor systems, such as market access certification, energy-saving product certification, and energy-saving certification for various high-efficiency motor systems.
