With the global energy
crisis becoming more and more prominent, governments and enterprises of all
countries are trying to find the way of sustainable development of energy. At
present, China is also faced with many problems in energy restriction, so it is
particularly urgent to balance the relationship between energy and economic
development.
According to statistics, in
China, the motor is an important industrial energy consumption equipment, of
which the electricity consumption accounts for about 60% of China's entire
industrial power consumption. The potential of energy saving is huge in China.
High efficiency and energy saving are core focus of development
To save energy and protect
the environment, high efficiency motor is the current international
development trend. According to the motor running time, the European CEMEP
standard divides the efficiency into EFF1 (the highest), EFF2, EFF3 (the
lowest) three levels, which was implemented step by step from 2003 to 2006. The
IEC 60034-30 standard classifies the motor efficiency into five grades: IE2, IE3,
IE4 and IE5 (the highest). China is committed to implementing IE2 and above standards
from July 1, 2011. The international requirement and the domestic energy
shortage situation all need to take the motor energy saving development as the
primary task.
On the discussion of
improving the efficiency of the motor, the industry generally believes that it
can be achieved through the following ways: energy-saving transformation of the
motor system, the use of new technology and new materials to reduce energy
consumption, by reducing the loss of electromagnetic energy, thermal energy and
mechanical energy to improve the efficiency of the motor. At present, the DC
frequency conversion widely applied in the household electrical appliance
industry is a model of energy saving design. Experts say that if only the
motors and their haulage systems added each year were replaced with
energy-efficient ones, more than 100 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity
could be saved each year, more than the total annual power generation of the
Three Gorges Power Station, and carbon dioxide emissions could be reduced by
nearly 100 million tons.
Although the country is
actively promoting, but there are still five problems in the motor system
energy saving to be solved: technical standards and other basic work, efficient
general purpose and dedicated equipment, the reasonable matching of motor
system and operation efficiency, third party energy conservation service team
construction, incentive policies and institutional mechanisms.
Trend: Intelligent Control
With the development of
communication technology, intelligent control has become a hot topic in the
field of motor. The automatic washing machine, automatic curtain and so on used
in our life all transmit the intelligent signal. The motor control also tends
to be simple and intelligent.
The function of intelligent
motor control is much more than that of traditional motor control. Intelligent
motor realizes low carbon operation, and the failure probability and
downtime are greatly reduced. It has become the inevitable trend of the
development of motor control. For example, a smart power module can be used to
reduce the size of the motor and simplify the design by forming a power
interface between the microcontroller or DSP and the motor. The
advantages of this module over previous discrete solutions are smaller
parasitic inductors and higher reliability, because all power components in
the module are from the same batch of chips, providing consistent test
performance.
The intelligent power
module can directly interface with the microcontroller's low voltage TTL or
CMOS output and is equipped with a protection circuit. The module is
equipped with a thermistor to monitor junction temperature, a logic protection
circuit to prevent direct connection between upper and lower bridge arms, dead
time control, and a drive waveform shaping circuit to minimize EMI. In the
module, each drive IC can be optimized so that it can complete the switching
action of the power device with minimal EMI and drive losses. It's a big boost
to energy conservation.
Hot Spot: Brushless DC Motor
After years of development
and application of the motor, the industry is now focusing on the brushless
DC motor, especially to become the current micro-special motor development hotspot. Brushless DC motor adopts semiconductor switch device
to realize electronic commutator, using electronic switch device to replace the
traditional contact commutator and brush, thus has the outstanding advantages
of high reliability, no commutator spark, low mechanical noise.
In short, the current motor
industry development of the first priority is to improve the motor energy
efficiency, not only to fulfill international obligations, but also for the
long-term development of China to do foresight.
